According to Iban legend, Kendawa was known for his trip to the afterworld (Menoa sebayan) looking for a fighting cock “Biring Gerunggang” where he met the soul of his deceased wife.

A23.1 Blaki II was murdered by the Seru intruders from the Kalaka via the Rimbas. He was buried with his wife, Bremas (sister of Uyut “Bedilang Besi”) near the base of the Tapang tree at the Tampak Panas range by his brothers Jimbai, Kadir & Jelema. As a result of this, Awan* (#A24.12) who was a Padeh Warrior married Blaki II daughter, Lada (#A24.12) and became Chief and war leader of Ulu Paku Iban in succession of his murdered father-in-law.
A23.1 Tur “Bayang” was a Paku war leader. He approved of his younger sister to marry a Padeh warrior named Awan in order to defend the Ulu Paku Iban from the attack by the Seru and Beliun intruders from the Sarikei and Krian regions. TR Unja at Ulu Grenjang kept his bunch of smoked skulls to this day. His brother Ugap (#A24.11) married his 1st cousin Nisi the daughter of Uyut “Bedilang Besi”of Lower Paku and Anyut. Tur “Bayang” married twice. His first wife was Sulan (#A24.1a) and his second wife was Mingat (#A24.1b)
A25.12 Kaya* was the son of Libau (Kanang) of Paku (also a great-great grand children of Rinda & Demong via Bundak (#Cii.30.2). He was a brave warrior under Tur “Bayang” (#A23.1) who helped to drive the remaining Serus, Beliuns and Baketans from Ulu Paku of the Saribas District. He married Sawai (daughter of Awan and Lada).
A26.1a Dindong (f) and her family migrated to the Seblak in the Kalaka District around 1857 as one of the earliest people from Paku to settle in that part of the country.
A27.1a Penghulu Jungan was the successor of his uncle-in-law Chief Tengkuang to become the Penghulu for the Saribas Iban in Seblak. He died in 1902.
A28.1a Penghulu Chaong succeeded his father and he was then succeeded by his son Penghulu Entrie who was succeeded by his brother Penghulu Kawi after he died. YB Peter Nyarok is a member of the State Council Negri for Kerian District after winning an election in 1992.
A26.11 Limping was a warrior who fought under Chief Linggir “Mali Lebu”. He was successful in killing his foe in a war expedition against Ilas near the mouth of Rajang River.
A26.11 Bali was well known for being the first man who was expert in Pencha Silat martial art dance in the Paku. His brother Uja was a well known Dukun (medicine man) of Paku. He died in 1908 at Kranggan Pinggai longhouse. Nyanggau succeeded his father Uja as a Senior Dukun. He married Gindu (niece of Penghulu Jungan of Seblak, Kalaka.
A26.122 Jiram “Rentap”* was a war leader who attacked the Kanowits shortly before the arrival of James Brooke in Sarawak. He died of starvation (tasah) during this expedition.
A26.123 Jantan was one of a few warrior under his brother-in-law Jiram “Rentap” who survived the attack on the Kanowits.
A27.122 Adir “Bungkok” was a very conservative longhouse headman of Matop Paku. He was entrusted by Datuk Laksamana Amir to collect padi from the Paku Iban as yearly door tax (Pupu Pintu). He died of a very old age in about 1867 and was succeeded as Longhouse headman of Matop by his son Tindin (#A27.122) who was a brave warrior under his brother-in-law, Linggir “Mali Lebu”, the famous warleader of Paku, Saribas.
A27.123 Libau “Buban” was the eldest son of Jantan (#A26.123) who succeeded his father as a longhouse headman of Samu, Paku. He was famous for his justice in dealing with the affairs of his followers.
A27.123 Ugat was the son of Libau “Buban” and a brother of Kaya (#A28.123). He was a minor warleader of the Ulu Paku Iban. He attacked the Seru Dayak near Kabong in the Kalaka District and the Beliuns in the Sarikei District. He was also at odd with Datuk Laksamana Amir of Lower Paku and this caused him to lead many Ulu Paku Iban to migrate to Ulu Julau. He died shortly after he had settled in Julau and this caused his leaderless followers to return to Paku and never return to Julau anymore.
A28.121 Nakhoda Penglima Budin “Gerasi” was a brave warrior (also grand son of Mulok vs Mendu and Great-grand son of Chief Unggang “Lebor Menoa” ref.:#Ci.17.2122). He married Mindu a daughter of Ajie or Saji (3rd son of OKP Dana Bayang) who was killed while fighting against the government of the 1st Rajah of Sarawak in a Battle at Sungai Langit in 1858. Budin was a pioneer rubber planter in the Saribas District in 1892. He enlarged his plantation in 1895. The Sarawak Gazette of that year said:”The Stambak garden are being enlarged. Grasi, the head of the house there owns 800 trees and employs Dayak labours. His pady farm this year was made for him by Malays on wages.” He was also a Nakhoda who led his followers to buy valuable jars in Sabah with Nakhoda Saang “Rumpang” of Paku. Due to his bravery while attended to various Government Expeditions against rebels in Sarawak, Budin was made Penglima by the Rajah in 1880s. His two sons, Lumpoh & Ujih and many of their relatives in the Layar and Padeh led an agitation against the government of the Third Rajah to revenge the death of their grand father, Ajie, who were killed fighting the government forces at Sungai Langit. They were then expelled and live quietly in exile in Brunei from 1914 till Lumpoh’s death in early 1950s. Ujih paid his first visit to Kuching after the expulsion and died there in 1954.
A28.1222 Luwi was a warrior under Chief Linggir “Mali Lebu”. He became the longhouse headman of Penom Paku after the death of his father-in-law, Kadir. (Also a son of Adir “Bungkok”, brother of Tindin & Anong and a father-in-law of Penghulu Mula)
A28.123 Tangai, son of Kaya (#A28.123) and a brother of Dindun (f) was a longhouse headman succeeding his grandfather Libau “Buban” due to his father’s death, while Libau “Buban” was still alive.
A28.123 Dindun was a sister of Tangai and a daughter of Kaya. She married Lambor (a descendant of Sema, the grand-daughter of Uyut “Bedilang Besi”) and begot Nyanggau, Nakhoda Tinggie and Mengu. Nakhoda Tinggie was the Iban warleader who fought against the rebels Mat Salleh from 1886 to 1905. After his death, he was succeded as Chief of Ranau and Sugut in Sabah by his elder brother Nyanggau.
A28.1245 Kalanang was a leading trader among the Paku Iban. He led many trading ventures to Brunei and Sabah in the 1880s. His son, Lucas Chuat, was one of the first two Iban appointed to become Native Officers in Sarawak in 1934. He served in the Administrative Service until his death in 1940. His brother Edmund Ngumbang Tan was a well known swimming champion representing the Chinese Swimming Club in Singapore for many years. (Edmund Tan was a name he adopted to enable him to join the Chinese Swimming Club). Edmund married to a Chinese and begot a daughter named Molly Tan. Another twin brother, Robert Ngelambong, migrated to Thailand and settled in Songkhla District. In Thailand he worked with the Siam Harbour board in Bangkok. Hilary Jungan was a Junior Clerk attached to the Post & Telegraph Department in Kuching. He died in 1957.
A29.1221 Penghulu Garan “Lembang Batu” (Rock Cleaver) was the descendant of Chief Nyawai*. He was also a son of Chief Linggir’s sister, Tambong. He married Chief Linggir’s daughter, Umang (who was also his 1st cousin). He was appointed Penghulu after Linggir died in 1874.

Chief Nyawai* was the first Iban to settle at the Bangkit Tributary of the Lower Paku. He had 30 slaves to work for him. Nanggar* was a war leader of the ancient Bangkit. All his sons were brave warriors. Kelukat “Batu Galang” was a leading warrior under his father-in-law Gerijih “Ai Marang”. Garan* was a Chief who settled in the Udau tributary of the Anyut River. Due to his bravery, he was allocated an islet of forest in the Ulu Anyut River. His son Ambang was a longhouse headman and his daughter, Sawat (#Cii.37.11), was wife of Chief Uyut II (Cii.37.11) the parents of the famous Chief Linggir “Mali Lebu”. Kerbau* (married to Jata) was a son-in-law of Garan who felled and cleared the jungle along Jitu River, a tributary of Anyut River. Chabu*, the father of Penghulu Garan “Lembang Batu”, was Chief Linggir’s first cousin who was captured by the Rajah Brooke after the Battle of Beting Maru. On board the Royalist, he killed a Malay Chief who suggested that he be given a death sentence. He was brought to Kuching and later pleaded to be released because he had many children to support. The Rajah released him and he returned to Paku. His return surprised his family members who expected him to have been killed in the famous battle.
A29.1222 Penghulu Mula, the son of Renggie, was the nephew of Linggir “Mali Lebu”. He was appointed Penghulu of Ulu Paku in 1902 in succession of Penghulu Kedit, who dies during the imfamous Cholera Expedition against the Delok Iban in that year. He was also a brave warrior who fought under his uncle Linggir “Mali Lebu” and his cousin Penghulu Garan “Lembang Batu”(also son-in-law and nephew of Linggir “Mali Lebu”). During a fight against the Balau Dayak at Meludam in 1858 he killed and wounded a number of enemies.
A30.1223 Penghulu Luta “Tedong Ngelantar” was a Sergeant attached to the British North Borneo Constabulary. He took an active part in fighting against the Mat Salleh in Sabah where he successfully killed a number of enemies. He was elected Penghulu to succeed his grand-uncle, Penghulu Mula when the later died in 1922. In the late 1890s when Queen Victoria of Great Britain celebrated her Golden Jubilee, Luta was sent to England to participate in the parade together with the British North Borneo Contigents. In the early 1908 Luta led his people in the upper Paku planting rubber tree. In 1925, he was the first leader to build a big strong belian wood longhouse at Samu, Paku. In that same year (1925) he resigned his Penghuluship and he died in 1939 (ref.#A30.23 for his descendant).
A31.1222 Penghulu Ugat (Also #A29.244) was a pensioner of the Malayan Constabulary. After the death of his cousin, Penghulu Andil of Paku in 1947, Penghulu Ugat was elected as his successor until his resignation due to his poor health in 1954. His brother Linggir was a longhouse headman of Penom and Chundi was the headman of Ulu Krian Longhouse in the Saratok District. Penghulu Ugat died at Tanjong, Paku, in 1975.
A10.2 Cheremie* is a daughter of Raja Sempulang Gana & Endu Endun Serentum Tanah Tumboh. Sempulang Gana is also a brother of Sengalang Burong (#A9). Cheremie and Ajie were 1st Cousin to each other.
A20.2 OK Betie “Tajai Ngindang” was an Iban war leader. He died in a war against Seru Dayaks in the Kalaka District and was buried at Burai Cemetry in the tributary of Krian River. His son Angkum was killed by the Undup Ibans and another son, Isik was killed by the Balau Dayak while fishing for buntal at Tanjong Kauk.
A21.2 OKP Dana “Bayang” was the most senior and influential Iban war leader in the Saribas District. He led many wars against the Undup and Sebuyau Dayaks in addition to his attack on the Land Dayaks of Lundu, the Chinese Villages at Singkawang and Mentrado in the West Kalimantan region. His bravery and leadership dominated by the Malays and Iban Chiefs of the Saribas & Skrang region (this includes Chief Linggir “Mali Lebu” of Paku, Chief Unal “Bulan” of Upper Layar, Chief Libau “Rentap” of Skrang). He dominated the leadership scene for half a century (1800 – 1854) until his death in 1854 and was at the pime of his power during the arrival of Rajah James Brooke in 1839.
